In September 2009, a small seed of change was planted when 20 children and adolescents—displaced and vulnerable—came together with a shared dream: to make their voices heard. Thus began “Muévete, Muévete,” a unique radio program where the protagonists were not adults talking about children, but the children themselves producing and narrating their stories, concerns, and hopes. Radio Católica Cuenca was the first to believe in this revolutionary project, opening its microphones to these fresh voices that longed to be heard.The powerful message from these child and teen broadcasters soon resonated beyond Cuenca. After a year of broadcasts, CORAPE extended the “Muévete, Muévete” signal through its 32 community radio stations scattered throughout the country, multiplying the reach of these voices that had previously remained silent. La Voz de Zamora and Radio CENEPA soon joined the effort, expanding the family of stations committed to inclusive and participatory communication where children were the true experts.Sixteen years later, “Muévete, Muévete” continues to resonate on the airwaves thanks to La Voz de Ingapirca, Radio Silveria Stereo, Sistema Radial del Sur, and the CORAPE network, which continue to faithfully broadcast this program created by and for children. What began as a small project has evolved into a communications movement where more children’s and teenagers’ voices join in every day, demonstrating that communication is a powerful tool for building a more inclusive world. “Muévete, Muévete” is not just a radio program; it is a space where children continue to dream and transform realities through the power of their words.
